Glenview Titans Gold 2 - Wind 1 A tough loss to begin the season. The Wind controlled the play early and scored on a Jessie break-away. Glenview evened the score early in the second half with a goal off of a long free-kick. The heat and humidity definitely slowed down the girls and with less than 2 minutes to play Glenview scored the game winner. |

Wind 3 - Lake Forest Scouts Blue 3 The Wind quickly fell behind 3-0 and seemed in jeopardy of getting blown off the field before making a remarkable comeback. After being stunned by Lake Forest's early burst of intensity, the Wind was able to match their opponent's aggression. The Wind cut the deficit to 3-1 in the first half when Nicki passed to Jessie who passed to Eunice, and Eunice then scored. In the second half, Stephanie scored two goals with the assists going to Eunice and Nicki. The final score was 3-3. Rachel made nine saves in goal. Rachel was given strong support by Montana, Yesenia and Flannery on defense. Jessie covered a lot of territory with great hustle and defensive help from her midfield position in the second half. Olivia was aggressive up front. Given the caliber of the opponent (Lake Forest came in third place in the "A" division last spring), this was a very positive outcome for the Wind. |

Louisville Tournament. The Wind played up a year at the United Cup 2004 tournament in Louisville, KY, competing in the U11 age bracket. Game 1: Javanon 1 - Wind 0. Javanon is the #2 ranked U11 team in the state of Kentucky according to NationalSoccerRankings.com. The Wind gave Javanon all it could handle. The score was 0-0 at halftime. Javanon scored midway through the second half in a game in which neither team had many quality scoring chances. Rachel made seven saves. Noteworthy efforts were turned in by Nicki, Claire, Jessie, Marley and Montana. Everyone was pleased with the 1-0 outcome. Game 2: FC Pride Red Lion 4 - Wind 2. Once again, the girls played respectably against a U11 team, losing 4-2 to the U11 FC Pride Red Lion (Indianapolis). The Wind jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Stephanie (assist by Nicki). FC Pride scored three unanswered goals to go up 3-1 early in the second half. The Wind cut the lead when Claire scored on a rocket that hit the back of the net just underneath the crossbar (assist by Nicki). The Wind kept up the pressure with several good scoring chances, but could not get a game-tying goal. FC Pride put the game out of reach with a very late goal. Notable efforts were turned in by Jessie, Olivia, Montana, Flannery and Jaclyn. Rachel made five saves. Game 3: Wind 4 - Dynamo Black 4. The Wind showed tremendous heart against another U11 from Indianapolis. The first half did not go well as the Wind struggled to get the ball past the midfield line. Dynamo Black dominated play and held a 2-0 lead at halftime. Despite the fact that it only had one sub all tournament against older competition, the Wind roared back in the second half. Stephanie scored two quick goals to tie the score 2-2 (Jessie had an assist on one of the goals). Dynamo Black took a 3-2 lead, but the Wind then tied the game 3-3 on a spectacular play in which Stephanie drove the ball down the right sideline and made a great crossing pass that Jaclyn converted into a goal with a superb 1-touch finish. Dynamo Black again scored to take a 4-3 lead. Nicki then tied the game for good with a goal with 15 seconds left to play. Marley and Rachel combined for six saves. Notable efforts were turned in by Claire, Montana, Flannery and Olivia. The Wind club and the girls should be proud. The parents sure are. While playing 3 teams of older and larger girls we acheived the best 0-2-1 record ever recorded. What a great tournament! The girls gained valuable experience on the field and had an awesome time off the field. Special thanks to Ilija for continuing his superb job coaching. |

Team Chicago Blue Dolphins 3 - Wind 0 The Wind fell behind 1-0 midway through the first half when Team Chicago scored on a long-distance direct kick. The Wind looked like it would going into halftime down only 1-0, but then gave up an unfortunately-timed goal with about 10 seconds to go before halftime. The Wind was able to hang tough in the second half, keeping the score at 2-0 for a long time. The Wind had an outstanding scoring chance in the second half in which it got off multiple shots from close range in one fast-paced sequence, but the Team Chicago goalie came up big. Finally, very late in the second half, Team Chicago scored again to end the scoring at 3-0. Team Chicago is now 4-0 this season and has yet to allow a goal. |

Wind 3 - Strikers 0 Under the lights during an evening game at Cunniff Park! The Wind took a 1-0 lead early in the first half when Jessie sent a high pass to Stephanie that Stephanie controlled out of the air and then scored on a very difficult finish. That was the only score of the first half. Although the Wind led at halftime, the Strikers had more than held their own in controlling the field of play. In the second half, however, the Wind was able to keep the ball on the Strikers side of the field much better. Nicki put the Wind up 2-0 with a powerful kick that caught the left, upper portion of what was a small opening that the Striker goalie could not reach. Stephanie had the assist. Olivia gave the Wind a 3-0 lead with a late goal that was unassisted. Marley had nine saves in goal. Claire provided a strong defensive presence early in the game, and when she was moved to centermidfield she really helped tilt the field in the Wind's favor. Montana provided aggressive play, and she was rock solid at sweeper in the second half. Flannery also made numerous contibutions to the victory. |

Plainfield enjoyed the better of it in the second half but could not dent the Wind goal. Jaclyn had 8 saves in the first half. Marley had 3 saves in the second half. Plainfield Wildcats 3 - Wind 2 The Wind lost in a game that Plainfield had completely under control until the final five minutes. Plainfield jumped out 1-0 in the opening seconds of the game on a scramble play in front of the Wind net. Plainfield added another first half goal and held a 2-0 lead over the Wind at halftime.Although the Wind was playing better in the second half, Plainfield went up 3-0 to seemingly put the game out of reach. With five minutes to go, the Wind mounted a stirring comeback. Jessie scored to cut the lead to 3-1. Rachel had the assist. Not long after that, Rachel took a pass from Jaclyn and scored to cut the lead to 3-2. There was less than a minute left at that point, and the Wind comeback ran out of time. Marley had three saves in the first half. Montana turned in very aggressive goalkeeping in the second half and had 10 saves. Nicki had what may have been her best performance of the fall season. Other notable efforts were made by Claire and Stephanie. |
