Sun 8/26 - G2: Chicago Wind Nationals 3, HSC Green 3 (Wind wins on penalty kicks 4-3) The Wind came from behind to send the championship game to penalty kicks where they won 4-3. The Wind fell behind 1-0, then tied it up on a goal by Nicki (Katherine assist). A goal by Rachel put the Wind up 2-1 (assist Stephanie), and that was the score at halftime. HSC Green scored two goals in the second half to go up 3-2, before a goal by Nicki tied it up 3-3 (assist Marley). During regulation, Amanda made six saves and Katherine made five. The game ended with that 3-3 score and went to penalty kicks. With Katherine in goal, the Wind made four penalty kicks to HSC Green’s three to take the championship. Katherine, Stephanie, Nicki and Montana (game-winner) all converted their penalty kicks. Noteworthy efforts were also turned in by Claire, Olivia, Cara, Marley, Sia and Jessica. The girls plans to douse Tony with water to celebrate the victory were short-circuited by the fact that he had two more games to coach. Tony promised the girls they could douse him at the following Wednesday's practice.
