Day 1
Sunday Nov 5
We’ve made it to Guiyang in Guizhou Province! The flight from Chicago to Beijing was 13 hours. We then transferred to a domestic flight and flew from Beijing to Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province. We arrived here about 11:00 Saturday night and settled in to the Howard Johnson Plaza. Despite the fact there is no orange roof, it’s a lovely hotel! We’re all on the 28th floor, windows overlooking a busy and bustling city. It was a calm morning with breakfast, a group meeting and quick walks in the neighborhood or trips to the small grocery next door to pick up supplies. The children from Duyun Social Welfare will be arriving at 2:30, the ones from Guiyang at 3:30. It’s only two hours to go. The children will be brought to the hotel. The sense of excitement and anticipation is amazing! -Jane

All the paperwork was completed today to finalize the adoptions. The morning was spent at the Civil Affairs office and Public Security office. Most spent the afternoon enjoying well deserved naps!

Day 3
Tuesday November 7, 2006 - Quiet day.
Most of the group ventured out today to the local park. Beautiful setting. Marvelous monkeys! Big trip to the Wal-Mart this afternoon for provisions!

Day 4
Wednesday, November 8, 2006 - Huangguoshu Falls
Today, five of the Group 48 families had an outing to Huangguoshu Fall, the largest waterfall in Asia. It was indeed spectacular. The parents and babies loved being outside in the beautiful weather!

Day 5
Thursday Nov 9, 2006 - Babies love spelunking!
The babies are becoming more comfortable with their moms and dads each day. They are truly blossoming and becoming much more social. Five families took a marvelous outing to visit some of the famous caves of Guizhou Province today. Absolutely gorgeous mountainous park and more beautiful waterfalls. Took a boatride through one cave and a long walk through another. Nice lunch followed by a walk through a 600 year old village.
