Sep 24, '06: Deerfield 19 - Highland Park 0 It doesn't get much better. A beautiful day. Home field advantage. Plenty of fans. And a 19-0 shutout by the Black Warriors. It all started on the Deerfield back 40 as the players took the field. Highland Park had the first possession, but not for long. Pavle C came up with a fumble recovery within the first few plays and Warriors were off! What followed were four quarters of excellent playing all around. Rookie QB Pavle C did a great job calling and executing the plays. Alec F, Sam M, Michael L and Jack P racked up the yards running and catching the ball as the Warriors moved closer and closer to the end zone. Big defensive plays were made by Kevin M, Charlie C and Zach L. Before long, it was Sam M in the end zone for a quick 6-0 Warrior lead. Then it was Sam M in the end zone again for a 12-0 lead, with Pavle C running in the extra point to go 13-0.? Finally, Sam M ran it in for the 3rd touchtown, with a final score Warriors 19 - Highland Park ZIP! But that's not all. Today we saw some big plays. Long throws downfield that were caught with precision! Pavle C to Jack P, Pavle C to Sam M, and Sam M to Jack P. Three big pass plays that wowed the crowd. And intimated the opponent. Factor in the massive tackles and five fumble recoveries by Nick B(2), Pavle C, Michael L and Zach L and this game was a done deal. No question about it. The Black Warriors dominated today. They played with authority and confidence. And that is precisely why Highland Park came up short. Here's to another ''W'' on the scoreboard as the Black Warriors extend their season record to 2-1. Next game will be Sunday, October 1st @ 1:30 vs. Skokie at Deerfield. Forecast, as of now, calls for a cloudy day, 65 degrees, with a few possible showers. Can you think of better football weather?
