DHS 0 - GBS 0 Coach Grady's Report:The Deerfield Warriors continued their season opening home stand with a 0-0 tie against Glenbrook South on Saturday. Facing a 20 mile per hour wind in the first half, the Warriors relied on defenders Claire, Maddy, Jill, and Amanda K to keep the Titans off the board. Goalie Bailey had an outstanding diving save to keep the game scoreless late in the half. In the second half, the Warriors were able to generate more offense, and Trishie actually had the ball in the net for the Warriors, but the goal was nullified when the officials ruled that Trishie had fouled the goalkeeper prior to scoring. The remainder of the game was a tense defensive battle with neither team able to break through. |

DHS 0 - Huntley 0 Coach Grady's Report:For the fourth time this year, the Warriors played to a 0-0 draw. On three of those occasions, including Thursday against the Huntley Red Raiders, the Warriors had much the better of the play. The Warriors played a solid defensive first half, holding the Red Raiders to only two shots. Unfortunately, Deerfield could not muster many scoring chances either. Logan broke free down the right wing and whipped in a cross that Amanda I headed just wide halfway through the first half. Huntley generated some offense of its own in the second, forcing Bailey to make a diving stop at the near post. The Warriors had several good chances, including one cleared off the line with two minutes remaining. Bailey recorded her fifth shutout of the year for the Warriors, who are now 3-2-5. |

DHS 2 - GBN 2 Coach Grady's Report:Another game, another tie for the Warrior soccer team. The Warriors battled the host Glenbrook North Spartans to a 2-2 tie Tuesday evening in Northbrook. The game started well for the Warriors, as Leah Heller found Emily Kellow, who beat her defender before being fouled in the penalty area. Hannah calmly stepped up and buried the shot in the lower right corner for her first varsity goal and a 1-0 lead. The Spartans tied it in the 20th minute, but the Warriors regained the lead less than a minute later when Samara found Logan, whose shot from the right side was deflected in to the goal for a 2-1 lead. The Spartans applied pressure early in the second half, forcing several excellent saves from Bailey and hitting the post once. The Spartans got the tying goal with 16 minutes remaining, and almost got the winner, Amanda K made an outstanding play to clear the ball off the line. DHS 2 - Maine South 2 Coach Grady's Report:The Warrior Soccer team rode an emotional roller coaster in Thursday’s Pepsi Showdown game against Maine South in Park Ridge. Right from the start, the Warriors played some of their best soccer of the season, buzzing around the Maine South goal and creating numerous opportunities. The Warriors failed to turn this dominance into goals, however, and were punished when Maine South struck for two goals less than three minutes apart, beginning in the 26th minute. Despite playing quite well for most of the half, the Warriors found themselves down 2-0. The Warriors threw bodies forward in the second half, playing with only three defenders in an all-out effort to get back in the game. In the 63rd minute, the pressure paid off when Emily K was taken down in the area. For the second game in a row, Hannah calmly slotted home a penalty kick, and the Warriors trailed by only one. Just over a minute later, Emily K stripped a defender of the ball and sent her older sister in on a breakaway. Amanda K showed great patience, forcing the keeper to commit before sliding the ball into the far corner to tie the game. Bailey made a number of outstanding saves in the second half to keep the Warriors in it. |

In the second half, Deerfield finally broke through in the 63rd minute when Hannah R lofted a diagonal pass over the top of the defense for Trishie, who beat the keeper to the ball and flicked it in to the empty net. Five minutes later, Claire’s pass again found Trishie in space, and the junior made no mistake, scoring her third of the season to make it 2-0 Warriors. Bailey made a total of 10 saves in recording her 6th shutout of the year. |

DHS 2 - Warren 1 My Report: . . . WOW! . . . Coach Grady's Report:The Deerfield Girls Soccer team completed a three- for-three sweep of the week’s games with a 2-1 win over the visiting Warren Blue Devils on Friday at Adams Field. The Warriors jumped on top twenty-seven seconds into the match with some excellent passing. Amanda I dropped the ball back to Claire, who placed a perfect diagonal pass through the defense for JoElla to beat the keeper for a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils drew even when the Warriors failed to clear a rebound midway through the first half. Early in the second half, Amanda K restored the advantage when she intercepted a pass inside her own half of the field and outran three Warren defenders for a breakaway goal in the 47th minute. The Warrior defense of Emily M, Maddy, Leah, Jill, and Kerry, backed up by excellent keeping from Bailey, made sure the lead held up. |

DHS 2 - HPHS 2 My Report: . . . Conference Champs!! . . . Coach Grady's Report:The Deerfield Girls Soccer earned its first CSL North Championship since 2006 with a 2-2 tie against the visiting Highland Park Giants on Tuesday. Emily K got the Warriors off to a flying start when she took a pass from her sister Amanda, cut inside the defender, and ripped a shot into the far corner for a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.
