Tue 3/13: DHS 4 - Niles West 1 Coach Grady's Report: The Deerfield Warriors girls soccer team played their first ever home game on the turf at Adams Field, and they made it an occasion to remember with a 4-1 victory over the Wolves of Niles West. Logan Just opened the scoring with her first varsity goal on an assist from freshman Emily K in the 3rd minute. The Wolves tied it four minutes later after a turnover led to a breakaway. The Warriors took the lead for good in the 10th minute when Claire and Amanda I combined on a nice passing sequence to find Savannah behind the defense, and Stanaszek ripped a shot just under the crossbar to make it 2-1. Samara got her first of the season to make it 3-1 ten minutes into the second half. Emily K closed out the scoring in the 68th minute when she took a pass from Imyak and beat the keeper low to the far post. Wolves senior keeper Jackie recorded an amazing 19 saves, several of the outstanding variety, as the Warriors accumulated 35 shots for the afternoon. (Click on left to see photo's)
