7-28: Five Loons: Exciting Loon activity.
Per Ashley Keenan of the Loon Preservation Committee, "We have a pair of Loons that hangs around Hurricane and Whortleberry island. This pair had two chicks however somehow it ended up taking in a third chick. Crazy and rare, they tend to be by Whortleberry and between hurricane and long island. "
So, of course I headed to Whortleberry Island. My first visit turned up one adult and one chick. Returning earlier on the next day, I found Loon magic - both adults feeding all 3 chicks right near my boat for about an hour. Some nice pic's and videos to share.
